At an altitude of 470m., with a hot-humid-rainy climate and an average temperature of 35 degrees centigrade, lies Misahuallí, the river gateway to exotic voyages into the jungle.

The town has good hotel infrastructure and facilities for carrying out adventure sports on the local rivers. Among nearby attractions are the Latas Cave, made up of inlets, rivers and fresh water pools; the river Napo, and Jatun-Sacha Biological Research Station, a centre for biological research and environmental education.

Misahuallí is just a few minutes away from Tena, the capital of Napo province.
